Verisign again raises prices for .com
In Jan. 2020, the administrator of the .com domain name extension (Verisign) negotiated a new contract with the umbrella organization for domain name extensions (ICANN) that allowsVerisign to increase the price of .com domains up to eight times by up to 7% per year between 2020 and 2030.
Verisign has already increased the price for .com by 7% in 2020 and 2021 and has announced that it will also increase the price for .com domains by 7% in 2022. Verisign also has the contractual option to increase the price by 7% per year five more times until 2031: in 2023, 2026, 2027, 2028 and 2029. Whether they will do so is not known at this time, although it is of course obvious.
Due to Verisign’s price increase effective September 1 and the changed Euro / Dollar exchange rate, our .com prices are also changing as of that same Thursday, September 1:
